"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association" PJSC signed a contract for the supply of shut-off valves of several modifications for the needs of "Prykarpattransgaz", management of the main gas pipelines, which is a branch of the State Company Ukrtransgaz. This product is in demand by the customer as part of the reconstruction of the site of the domestic gas pipeline "Dolina - Uzhgorod - State Border".
In accordance with the terms of the contract, Sumy machine-builders will manufacture 12 items of equipment, 10 of which belong to the number of medium-sized ball valves (with a nominal cross-section of 150, 300 and 500 mm), as well as 2 real "heavyweights": one - 1200 mm in diameter, 1400 mm. By the way, these samples of shut-off valves are the largest in the product line of the company. To date, Sumy NPO is the
only commodity producer in Ukraine, which produces the gas pipeline valves of this nomenclature.
Ball valves, which are specified by the contract, are designed for underground installation. They are designed for a pressure of 80 atm. Eleven of them will be equipped with pneumatic actuators, one with a manual control mechanism. Shipment of equipment is scheduled in the second quarter of 2018.
"This agreement on the supply of valves for the needs of gas transporters from the Carpathian region is not the only one in the practice of our enterprise. In particular, in the first half of this year, the management of main gas pipelines "Prykarpatransgaz" ordered the production of more than 20 units of shut-off valves of various sizes. At
the present time, the implementation of this project is coming to an end," Aleksander Korolyov, the head of the bureau of Sales Division said.
In general, shut-off valves, manufactured by Sumy machine-builders, are in demand in different parts of the country's gas transport system. According to the contracts with Ukrtransgaz and its branches, by the end of 2017 Sumy NPO should supply more than 500 ball valves with a diameter of 10 to 1400 mm.
According to Aleksander Korolev, there are good prospects for this direction and next year. "Now our specialists are preparing the necessary documentation to participate in seven new tenders for the production of valves, the implementation of which is planned in 2018," he added.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association" PJSC and Caverion Deutschland GmbH, Business Unit Krantz from Germany have concluded the first contract for the production of a batch of aerosol iodine filter casings.
In accordance with the terms of the contract, the Sumy machine-builders will manufacture four units of this equipment and ship them to the customer in the IV quarter of this year.
These products are the parts of aerosol iodine filters included in the
system of gas-steam mixture forced filtered dump from the containment responsible for the safety of nuclear power plants, under the emergency conditions as well.
"Caverion Deutschland GmbH, Business Unit Krantz won the tender for the supply of aerosol iodine filters to the South-Ukrainian NPP. The German company was also interested in finding a reliable partner with solid working experience at the domestic nuclear power market, a partner it could trust with realization of certain tasks of this project. Of course, our enterprise offered its services", - notes the lead manager of
NPP Equipment Sales Bureau, Aleksey Marchenko.
According to him, aside from researching the technical capabilities of SNPO, the Caverion Deutschland GmbH, Business Unit Krantz company also committed a separate production task to the enterprise - making a test sample of iodine filter chamber. When it was ready, a delegation from Germany visited the enterprise and was satisfied with the quality of performed works. After that, an agreement on further cooperation followed.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association", PJSC and the company Ingenieurbüro R. Großmann GmbH & Co. KG. KG (IBG) from Germany signed a contract for the delivery of a turbo-compressor package with process station equipment.
According to the latest agreements, Sumy machine builders should produce a 12 MW turbo-compressor package (TKA-C-12) on the basis of a double-casing three-stage centrifugal compressor consisting of a low-pressure casing and a two-stage high pressure casing. The customer also expects a number of auxiliary equipment, among which
are input, end, and intermediate separators, designed for low and high pressure. In addition, the delivery covers the electrical unit, convex strainers and pipeline valves for the inter-unit piping of the compressor line.
This product is designed to compress and transport associated petroleum gas to the gas transportation system. It is in demand within the expansion of the compressor station, which IBG will reconstruct. Shipment of finished equipment is planned for the end of the fourth quarter of 2017.
"Our dialogue with Ingenieurbüro R. Großmann GmbH & Co. KG. KG is activated. Actually, for the needs of the partner, the cooperation with which began in early spring of this year, separators, tanks and vessels, pumping and other process equipment, spare parts for compressors, etc. are manufactured at the company's production sites. The new agreement is an excellent opportunity for Sumy machine builders to show their German colleagues competence in turbo-compressors TKA, which are rightly called the heart of compressor stations, developing," Vladimir Andrienko, head of Department of Sales Division said.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association", PJSC expands its business opportunities in the Middle East. The other day the company has received the status of an approved supplier in the National Iranian Petrochemical Company (NIPC), so it will be able to participate in tenders for the supply of a wide range of equipment for the petrochemical industry of the partner country.
So far, Sumy NPO has operated on the Iranian market exclusively in the oil and gas sector, where it has quite indicative references.
"Sumy machine-builders was recognized in Iran for the first time in the mid-90s of the last century when the "Farashband" compressor station (CS) was successfully constructed and put into operation. Later, a number of powerful CSs appeared in this state with the help of our
company. Among them: "Nurabad", "Isfahan", "Chalvand", Ardabil, "Sarab", "Hadzhiabad", "Kharavan", "Sirjan", "Savekh", "South Pars", "Shuridzha" and many others. A special place in the general list is occupied by the gas compressor station on the underground gas storage "Saraje". This is the largest facility of all constructed by Sumy machine builders in Iran. Within the framework of this project, exclusive 25 MW turbo-compressor packages with double-casing centrifugal compressors of low and high pressure were created. Manufacturers of such equipment can be counted on the fingers of one hand. So, oil companies and gas specialists of Iran know about the competences of Sumy NPO not by hearsay, " Igor Bulygin, head of Marketing Department said.
Along with the oil and gas market of this Middle Eastern country, its petrochemical industry, which is supervised by the National Iranian
Petrochemical Company, is also of great interest.
In particular, Iran has more than 40 petrochemical complexes. According to experts, apart from their re-equipment, a surge in the construction of new facilities in this direction is expected. By 2019, the amount of investment in Iran's petrochemical industry will have exceeded $ 40 billion.
"The petrochemical segment of the Islamic Republic of Iran promises great prospects for those commodity producers who will prove their competence in the process of preliminary qualification to the state-owned company NIPC and will receive the status of its approved supplier. Sumy NPO is one of the few enterprises from Eastern Europe that managed to do it. It took us a year and a half for the passage of all necessary procedures, " Igor Bulygin adds.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association" PJSC concluded another contract with the Ingenieurbüro R. Großmann GmbH & Co. KG (IBG) company from German. This time, Sumy machine-builders need to manufacture a number of main assembly units for a gas drying unit.
In particular, the contract stipulates the manufacture of nine technologically complex blocks, specifically absorbers, degasser, filters, triethylene glycol (TEG) regeneration block, regenerated TEG pumps, anti-foamer metering block. The customer also expects a number of
vessel products, such as reflux, emergency drain and fresh triethylene glycol storage vessels. This equipment is meant to replace the outdated equipment of the gas drying unit, modernization of which is carried out by IBG.
The time period for the contract execution is quite short – the new products need to be shipped in the third quarter of this year.
As stated by Vladimir Andriyenko, the head of the SNPO Sales
Department, the development of cooperation with IBG offers great opportunities for the Company on the international stage, since that company operates not only on European territories, but also in many other countries worldwide.
To recap, "Sumy NPO" and the new German customer signed their first contract in April this year. The agreement covers shipment of a lot of II-stage inlet and outlet knock-out drums, as well as nozzles for compressors of the I and the II compression ratio, for replacement in turbo-compressor units in a high-pressure compressor station.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association", PJSC completed a large internal investment project. According to it, the overhaul of gas turbine co-generation plant with a capacity of 16 MW (ESTU-16), which was removed from operation for a time, was fulfilled. Exclusivity of this facility is that it is able to produce not only electric energy, but also generate heat at the same time. In general, about 22 million UAH were spent to restore to EGTU-16 operational conditions.
The gas turbine co-generation plant was put into operation by the Sumy machine-builders in 2001 and functioned during the next decade. However, over time, its profitability turned out to be questionable.
"Tariffs for electricity were low, but natural gas, which is the fuel for the EGTU-16, began to rise in price. The analysis of that time showed that the facility was not economically justified, and it was removed from
operation. But times have changed. When in 2016 the estimated payback of this investment project was calculated, it was about 2-3 years. However, in connection with the latest rapid tariff changes, I think that EGTU-16 will become profitable even earlier," Aleksey Zhukov the chief engineer of Sumy NPO explains.
Nevertheless, the key incentive for the company was to achieve maximum energy efficiency and economical consumption of carriers.
According to Viktor Odintsov, head of the power plant No.120, the thorough tests of the EGTU-16 have been completed recently. The test results even exceeded the design technical parameters. Actually, the plant generates 14.5 MW of electricity per hour with a design capacity of 13.4 MW, and also produces in the same period of 22 Gcal of heat
energy instead of the planned 21 Gcal.
"We must also take into account that the tests were conducted at a sufficiently warm temperature. In winter, the figures can be even higher, as the boiler will "react to the weather" and become more productive when the air temperature is essentially below zero. Another feature of the gas-turbine plant is its specific norms for the consumption of natural gas, which is much lower than that of other heat-generating companies," Mr. Viktor Odintsov notes.
The power generating plant is to be commissioned in October. Generated electricity, in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation, Sumy NPO plans to sell SE "Energorynok", but heat energy will heat its production sites.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association", PJSC signed an agreement with its new European partner - Ingenieurbüro R. Großmann GmbH & Co. KG (IBG). The contract provides for the supply of a set of separators, as well as suction and discharge nozzles for centrifugal compressors.
In particular, Sumy machine builders should make 6 inlet and discharge droplet separators of the II stage. In addition, the IBG expects 12 nozzles for compressors of I and II compression stages, half of which are
suction nozzles, and the second part are discharge ones.
The equipment specified by the contract is thick-walled (with wall thickness up to 80 mm). It will be used by the customer in turbo-compressor packages at the high-pressure compressor station.
The delivery is urgent. The production is to be completed by the summer of this year.
"The prospects of cooperation with the company Ingenieurbüro R.
Großmann GmbH & Co. KG appeared a little more than six months ago.
The current project is a priority for the partner, therefore it will become a kind of exam for Sumy machine-builders, according to which the customer will make a final decision on how actively further cooperation between enterprises will develop. By the way, the opportunities are significant, and they are related not only to the supply of certain types of products, but also to joint participation in large infrastructure projects," Vladimir Andrienko, head of Sales Department of the Sumy NPO, said.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association", PJSC completed work on the order of the company "Khorazm Shakar" (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), which provides for the production of liquid-packed ring type compressors of VK-50N type. In the coming days, the finished products to be supplied to the place of further operation.
According to the terms of the contract, Sumy machine builders
developed two units of equipment with a capacity of 50 m3/min. Its key purpose is to compress aggressive gases that are insoluble in water. Liquid-packed ring type compressors are made of stainless steel. The weight of each of them reaches 2 tons.
The equipment is required by the company "Khorazm Shakar", which is the largest producer of sugar in Uzbekistan, within the planned
modernization of its own facilities.
"Sumy NPO branded products are recognized by Uzbek sugar producers. In particular, our liquid-packed ring type compressors VK-50M1 are operated at "Khorazm Shakar". In addition, in the beginning of this March, VVN-50/0.2N liquid-packed ring type vacuum pump, manufactured by Sumy machine-builders was shipped to the customer ", - Oleg Semesenko, the senior sales manager said.
"Sumy Machine Building Science and Production Association" PJSC supplied two oversized ball valves of nominal diameter 1200 and 1400 mm to Ukrtransgaz PJSC. Thus, the total number of pipeline valves shipped by the Company to the Ukrainian partner according to a number of contracts that were concluded in 2016 reached almost 960 articles.
Manufactured by Sumy machine builders, ball valves of 1200 and 1400 mm diameter are the largest samples of shut-off valves not only in the product line of the enterprise, but also in Ukraine. The weight of the DN
1200 ball valve is 30 tons, and DN 1400 is 35 tons. Both are designed for underground use.
In general, current agreements with Ukrtransgaz PJSC provide for the delivery of over 1,700 ball valves of various sizes (from DN10 to DN1400) and design (both ground and underground).
"Ball valves manufactured by our company are installed on various sections of the domestic gas transporting system, as well as they form so-called customer's strategic stock. In accordance with agreements
with Ukrtransgaz, Sumy machine builders should supply a little more than 760 pieces of equipment," Pavel Zuza, the senior sales manager, explains.
Sumy NPO has consolidated its position of the leading manufacturer of shut-off valves since 1986. This type of product, characterized by its high-tech body design and wear-resistant seals, has approved itself at compressor stations, pipelines, chemical complexes in various parts of the world, working reliably in temperature ranges from -60° to +80°С.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association" PJSC successfully fulfilled all the requirements for prequalification in The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), which is the largest operator of the gas industry in Egypt. The other day the company officially received the status of an approved supplier in this company.
EGAS is a part of the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources of Egypt. The company is engaged in a wide range of exploration, drilling, natural gas production, its treatment, transportation and distribution in the domestic market, as well as production and sale of liquefied gas.
"Undoubtedly, such a customer is highly interesting to us as a producer. It's pleasant that Sumy engineers were appreciated in EGAS. Having carefully studied the competence of the association, we were given the opportunity to participate in tenders for the supply of various types of equipment," Igor Bulygin, the head of Marketing Department said.
It is planned to compete for orders in the new market in the near future. In particular, EGAS has identified major gas infrastructure projects, including the construction of a 175 km pipeline, and the expansion of a number of Egypt's compressor stations.
"The equipment which is top-requested by EGAS is exclusively our profile. These are turbo-compressor packages, compressor equipment, and pipeline valves. We will apply for all lots and hope for a successful outcome of at least part of the tenders. At the first stage it is important to show yourself, demonstrate your skills directly on the project of a new customer. Experience shows that only after the partner sees the manufacturer in the business, he finally decides whether to develop further cooperation with the newcomer or not," Bogdan Sumchenko, the senior overseas sales manager added.
Starting from 2013, Sumy NPO has been conducting purposeful work to
expand the geography of its own products supply. The hard work associated with the stage-by-stage certification of equipment to meet the world standards of ASME and API, pre-qualification in leading companies of the world, representing significant business interest for the enterprise, pays dividents. Actually, Sumy NPO has already the status of an approved supplier from customers, general contractors and engineering companies from Iran, the USA, France, Germany, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Turkey, Venezuela, Poland, Egypt, UAE, Great Britain, Iraq, etc.
At the same time, Sumy NPO specialists note that it is rather difficult to establish active cooperation with new partners, as they consider Ukraine to be a state with high risks and are not in a hurry to place large orders here.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association", PJSC has signed the contract with "Ukrgazdobycha" PJSC for production of high-pressure reciprocating compressor package 6ВШ1,2-2,3/400 for "Solokha" compressor station (СS); its operator is gas production directorate "Poltavagazdobychа".
Under the terms of the contract, the Sumy machine-builders shall
manufacture and then deliver the reciprocating compressor package on the opposite base 6ВШ1,6 in the mid-summer of the current year. The equipment of SNPO trademark is rated for the power of 75 kW and is not designed for air compression up to 400 аtm. It is required for replacement of outdated compressor in the control air unit at "Solokha" CS.
According to the information provided by Petr Shlemich, the lead manager of Sales Management, the Company has shipped the analogue package last year to "Solokha" CS. Taken as a whole, "Sumy NPO" took an active part in construction of this CS, where a series of equipment has been delivered to, including the gas compressor units and auxiliary systems.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association", PJSC has signed a number of contracts for the supply of liquid-packed ring type vacuum pumps BBH 2-300 and rotors to them. This equipment is designed for the Northern, Central and Southern Iron Ore Refineries (GOK), located in the city of Krivoy Rog, Dnepropetrovsk region.
In general, the contract provides for the production of the seven BBH 2-300 pumps and two rotors to them. Actually, four pumps should be
supplied to "Southern GOK", PJSC, two items of such products with additional rotors should be supplied to "Nothern GOK", PJSC, and "Central GOK", PJSC, ordered a ВВН 2-300 pump.
The equipment will be shipped on step-by-step basis during the first half of this year.
As Oleg Semesenko, the senior sales manager, informs, ВВН 2-300
liquid-packed ring type pumps are among the most powerful. They are designed for pumping of impurities that are not soluble in water. The weight of a pump is 15 tons.
Sumy NPO branded pumping equipment is in demand within the manufacturing facilities renovation at Customer sites. In addition, in the 2000s Sumy engineers actively supplied liquid-packed ring type vacuum pumps to Krivoy Rog metallurgists.
PJSC "Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association" will supply a large lot of slide plates as part of implementation of a construction project for the second Interim Spent Nuclear Fuel Dry Storage Facility (ISF-2) at the Chernobyl nuclear power station. In total, the Company needs to manufacture 1876 items of two sizes.
According to the information provided by Aleksey Marchenko, the lead manager of the NPP Equipment Sales Bureau, the contract covers the fabrication of 938 parts having the size of 2х120х1123 mm and the same number of parts sized at 12х120х1078 mm.
It is planned to ship the products in several stages. The first shipment to ISF-2 is expected by the end of March, and the finish line for Sumy machine-builders is in the first months of summer.
It should be noted that last year "SNPO" successfully completed a number of contracts as part of the construction of the second Interim Spent Nuclear Fuel Dry Storage Facility at the Chernobyl NPP. Specifically, the enterprise manufactured packages of embedded elements and metal structures, as well as four door units, one of which is meant for isolation of a concrete module, and the rest of them are
intermediate units. Also, this summer an additional contract was signed for the production of another air-tight stainless steel door structure weighting close to a ton. Like the previous items, it needs to guarantee effective long-term operation in a highly radioactive environment. The equipment has already been manufactured by the Sumy machine-builders and approved by the customer representatives, so it will be transported to its destination in the near future.
The purpose of ISF-2 is to take in, treat and store spent fuel assemblies and additional absorbers that have been accumulating at the Chernobyl NPP, for the next hundred years.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association", PJSC has been pre-qualified and received the status of an approved supplier to the Ministry of Oil of Iraq. Until now, no one company - a native of the former Soviet Union was not represented in the registers of potential producers for the needs of the Middle East state.
"Sumy NPO", PJSC work on entering the Iraqi market started about four years ago, but only this year it has moved to the maximum productive phase and, in the end, gave a long-awaited result.
"Despite some threats, Iraq market has not lost its relevance for the oil and gas equipment manufacturers from around the world. This country is very rich in hydrocarbons and therefore the struggle for the right to cooperate with it is very serious. Historically, famous American and Western European companies work in Iraq, but suppliers from Eastern Europe, there still were not - Alexey Tsymbal the general director, explains. - However, our company has proven that products manufactured under Sumy NPO brand meets superrigid requirements of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil to the probable partners".
Getting approved supplier status in the Ministry of Oil of Iraq is a prerequisite to participate in tenders, which are played in this state.
"Without representation in the relevant registers of the customer the chance to make at least a minimal supply is of virtually zero. At the same time, the outlook for this market is fairly indicative. Only in 2020, Iraq announces the implementation of a dozen of infrastructure mega-projects worth nearly $ 24 billion, in which the profile products of Sumy engineers can be in demand. Actually, "Sumy NPO", PJSC is going to compete for the opportunity to supply compressor stations, gas processing facilities, gas drying plants, desulfurization, stabilize hydrocarbon fractionation units and many other equipment", - Igor Bulygin, Head of Marketing Department, said.
According to him, "Sumy NPO", PJSC has the opportunity to strengthen its position in a new market also due to the fact that the Company has already qualified in a number of companies from the USA, the United Arab Emirates and Canada, successfully operating in Iraq. "So we have some kind of double approval: the main customer and the companies
that can act as subcontractors and offer to bring to the implementation of other producers of projects, which certainly must have pre-qualified" - adds Mr. Igor Bulygin.
During 2013-2016 years "Sumy NPO", PJSC was awarded the status of approved supplier of certain products in the leading companies of Iran, Saudi Arabia, the USA, France, Germany, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Turkey, Venezuela, Poland, Egypt, UAE, UK and others.
"However, the company has concluded only little by scope contracts with new partners. The reasons for this are several. Among them - the inefficient system of bank guarantees and project financing in Ukraine. In addition, customers with a worldwide reputation working with suppliers whose products and technologies are certified according to the international API and ASME standards. "Sumy NPO", PJSC in this issue is roughly in the middle of the path. Another equally important aspect is the risks of working with our country. Unfortunately, the investment climate, the economy and the political situation in Ukraine at this stage estimated potential partners is not very optimistic, "- says Alexey Tsymbal.

"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association", PJSC and the "Lvovtransgas" department of main gas pipelines, which is a structural subdivision of "Ukrtransgas", PJSC, have signed a contract for supply, on a turn-key basis, of absorbers package for compressor workshop No.4 of booster compressor station "Bilche-Volytsa", located at the Bilche-Volytsko-Uherske underground gas storage facility.
Per this contract, "Sumy NPO" needs to manufacture 4 absorbers with valve assemblies, sets of inter-skid valves, electric power equipment, automatic control systems, instrumentation and fire detecting and fighting system.
The agreement also stipulates performance of construction, installation, pre-commissioning works and testing the installed products. Erection of the facility will be performed in a single stage, as a complete start-up complex.
The main reason for modernization of BCS "Bilche-Volytsa" are new requirements, implemented in 2015, to the composition of natural gas transferred via the gas transportation system of Ukraine. Complete satisfaction of these requirements is the purpose of the SNPO products.
"Our suggested absorbers package is quite maneuverable and is capable of adjusting for the specific customer requirements. It is designed for the capacity range of 5 - 20 MNCMPD and the pressure of 3 - 5.5 MPa. Thanks to this complex, the blue-flame gas containing various impurities (water and methanol vapors, dripping liquid, etc.), transported from the compressor workshop No.4 of BCS "Bilche-Volytsa", will be fully purified. Its quality characteristics will conform with the requirements to natural gas that is to be supplied to main gas pipelines", - explains Vitalii Sharupa, the Lead Manager of the Department of Sales in Ukraine and the Central Asia of SNPO.
The absorbers package by "Sumy NPO", PJSC, also guarantees a number
of advantages to the customer aimed at reducing the power consumption. Namely, the equipment will ensure the continuity of hydrocarbons treatment process and exclude large pressure drops during their drying. Regenerated di-ethylene-glycol (DEG) will be reutilized, and calculations were performed for the optimal volumetric flow of DEG supplied to the absorbers to reach the required gas dew point. The design of the absorbers utilizes highly effective mass-transferring packing devices, which also increase the power efficiency of the complex. To ensure failure-free operation, reduce losses and emissions into the environment, an automatic control system is provided that controls all the technological processes. The project also includes energy-saving power supply networks.
According to the terms of the contract, Sumy machine-builders need to finish production of the equipment in the beginning of summer, 2017, and commission the facility during the third quarter of that year.
According to the contract with the company Soda Sanayi (Turkey), signed at the end of summer 2015, PJSC "Sumy Machine Building Science and Production Association" has designed, manufactured and currently is shipping the distillation column for ammonia and carbon dioxide separating from chloride-free condensate using low-pressure steam.
This is the large-sized equipment, the length of which reaches 30 m with a diameter over 3 m. Another defining feature of ordered distillation column is application of new grades of corrosion-resistant stainless steel in the process of production. In particular, it is the duplex (two-phase) steel, which thanks to its technological properties provides a maximum degree of strength of equipment at continuous operation in
The quality of welded joints was tested with 100% radiographic testing and inspection of the capillary path. For the convenience of transportation column is divided into three shipping unit, where final assembly will take place directly at the customer's site - a new process line for the production of soda ash, construction of which is currently being fulfilled by Soda Sanayi.
This is not the first time when PJSC "Sumy NPO" supplies products to this partner, known as the world's leading manufacturer of light and dense soda ash, sodium bicarbonate and purified sodium silicate. This company uses column, centrifugal, pumping and other equipment
produced by Sumy NPO.
In general, the Company's cooperation with Turkish partners was established in the late 90-ies of the last century. "Eskisehir" and "Bursa" compressor stations (CS) were constructed with the active participation of Sumy engineers in this country at the turn of the millennium. Since 2009, equipment manufactured by the Company has been operating competently at "Sivas" station, located at an altitude of about 1500 m above sea level. Nowadays to expand existing capacity the reconstruction of the station is being carried out. And Sumy NPO helps in this. Actually, 16 MW turbo-compressor package is expected to supply to "Sivas" station in the autumn of this year.
"Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association" PJSC signed the contract with "ArcelorMittal Temirtau", the largest steel manufacturer of Kazakhstan, for the supply of liquid-packed ring-type vacuum pumps.
Under the contract, Sumy engineers must manufacture 4 pumps of
VVN2-50M type, designed for pumping water insoluble impurities from the mines, and ship them to the customer in November of this year.
As Oleg Semesenko, the senior sales manager mentions, the feature of this project is that the pumps will be first equipped with explosion- proof motors for optimal operation at the facilities of the coal industry.
"We have already experience of cooperation with ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC. For example, the contract for manufacturing of liquid-packed ring-type pump of VVN2-300 modification was signed in May of this year. The products have already been produced and waiting for the customer's permission for the shipment, "- said Oleg Semesenko.
PJSC "Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association" and the Turkish oil and gas company Botas Petroleum Pipeline Corporation signed the contract for the production of turbo-compressor packages (GPA) within the framework of the expansion of the compressor station (CS) "Sivas".
Agreement provides for the delivery of 16 MW GPAs based on centrifugal compressors. Shipment is scheduled in autumn of next year.
"Sumy NPO has solid experience in the production of these units, which are well proven at facilities around the world. By the way, three
GPA-C-16S, manufactured by Sumy engineers, have been effectively operating directly at CS "Sivas" for over five years. This compressor station is a part of gas pipeline network Imranli Kaizeri, which provides transportation of natural gas to Western Europe. Status of proven reliable manufacturer, compliance with the highest international product requirements and the proposed terms and price finally convinced the customer to prefer our company for this project", - Aleksander Tatarinov, Head of Overseas Sales Bureau, said.
In addition to the station "Sivas", Sumy NPO branded turbo-compressor
packages, the supply of which has been carried out in the late 90s of the last century, are successfully operated at CS "Eskisehir".
The contract with Botas Petroleum Pipeline Corporation has become the second major agreement signed between Sumy NPO and Turkish partners in the current year. In particular, contract with Soda Sanayi on the development and manufacturing of distillation column for separating ammonia and carbon dioxide from chloride-free condensate using low-pressure steam was added to the company’s order book in September.
PJSC "Sumy Machine-Building Science and Production Association" has concluded the contract for manufacture of a number of products, as well as for appropriate supervision and commissioning work on the new booster compressor station (BCS), which is being constructed at the oil and gas field "Sharkiy Berdakh" in Uzbekistan.
In accordance with the terms of the agreement, Sumy engineers will design and produce three sets of compressor units, including high and
low pressure casing, with associated equipment, such as: buffer gas and barrier air preparation unit, unit of oil pressure tanks, flow measuring device, and others. The contract also provides delivery of six additional sets of detachable rotor bundles.
"The project is very limited in time. Shipment should be carried out in spring of 2016, after which the company's specialists will fulfil supervision and commissioning works of the contractual equipment", -
Aleksander Shevtsov, Head of Sales for Central Asia and the CIS countries said.
Sumy NPO has a long experience of cooperation with Uzbekistan. In particular, Sumy NPO branded products are successfully operated at booster compressor stations, located at the fields "Pamuk", "Zevardy", "Kokdumalak", "Gazly", as well as at the CS "Akhangaran", "Shakhpakhty", Navoi thermal power plant and many other facilities.
PJSC "Sumy Science and Production association" has completed production of embedded elements specified by the first part of the contract for the construction of spent fuel storage facility (ISFSI-2) at Chernobyl nuclear power plant. At the same time the company started to implement the second part of the agreement - manufacture of door assemblies, guaranteeing security in long-term operation and high radiation.
According to the agreement signed this spring, Sumy engineers have manufactured about 90 embedded elements and metal structures of different types and modifications. Applying them, embedding of spent
fuel in special capsules for further storage will be carried out. The equipment has been thoroughly tested for compliance with the requirements for products for the nuclear industry, approved by the customer and shipped to Chernobyl NPP on a step-by-step basis. The final lot will be delivered to the site in the middle of this month.
The next phase of the order specifies 4 door assemblies manufacture - one of them is for concrete module isolation, another three assemblies are intermediate. The doors are made using large thickness metal, layer of lead shot, etc. Their weight will range from 5 to 13.5 tons. Shipment of the equipment is scheduled in December of this year.
"The funds for the construction of ISFSI-2 were allocated by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The general contractor is the US company Holtec. In turn, PJSC "Sumy NPO" became one of the domestic producers, which was approved as a supplier of products based on qualification, experience in nuclear power engineering and manufacturing capabilities", - Aleksey Marchenko, senior manager of equipment for NPP Sales Department said.
This project is extremely important for nuclear safety of Ukraine. ISFSI-2 will provide a "dry" storage of 20,000 spent fuel assemblies of Chernobyl NPP for next 100 years.
PJSC "Sumy Machine-Building Science-and-Production Association" and "Ukrtransgaz", State Company for natural gas supply, transport and storage, signed the contract for supply of DN80 - DN1400 ball-valves.

shipment this autumn.
"This is the second contract between our company and "Ukrtransgaz", signed in 2015. In particular, in May the project for the supply of similar products was successfully implemented. However, at that time volumes were much smaller - about 40 units. Now we are talking about the order which four times exceeds the previous scope," - Elena Evtukhova, Head of Sumy NPO Sales Department, said.
As Elena Evtukhova says, Sumy NPO engineers continue to participate in tenders conducted by the "Ukrtransgaz" and its affiliates. "Our company has many competitive advantages: the product quality and terms of its production, and pricing. Therefore, we appreciate our chance and expect that another domestic contract will be added to the order backlog of Sumy NPO "- Elena Evtukhova noted.
Active negotiations to attract PJSC "Sumy Machine Building Scientific Production Association" to the implementation of projects in Poland is currently being conducted. In this regard, on 8-9 September, the company was visited by the delegation of the state oil and gas company PGNiG. Its main goal is to study in detail the technical and manufacturing capabilities of the Association, as well as ensure that Sumy engineers meet their high standards.
According to Aleksander Tatarinov, Head of Bureau of Sales Division, the primary task for Sumy NPO is closer cooperation with PGNiG, which is one of the largest Polish potential customers of products that the company produces. "We had a lot of presentations, we participated in a variety of exhibition and business activities to establish contact with PGNiG, which is the major exploration and production company of the neighboring state. As a result, Sumy NPO was interested in, and this visit is a kind of turning point: if seen to satisfy our guests, we will get a
real chance to become partners. In particular, the company is now competing for orders for the production of reciprocating compressors for PGNiG, and we hope that this visit will help potential partners to make their choice", - Aleksander Tatarinov says.
During the visit, the guests visited a number of the company's production facilities and design departments, among them the shop, specializing in the production of reciprocating compressor equipment. The delegation carefully studied samples of products that are currently produced, was interested in their technical characteristics, nuances of operation. In addition, representatives of PGNiG visited the test bench and the exhibition center of the company.
"I am pleasantly surprised, - Andrzej Raychek, Deputy Director for operations of PGNiG noted. - Sumy NPO has tremendous opportunities, covering almost the complete production cycle, from the manufacture of castings to ready to test equipment in conditions close to real use. And
even the company has its own design bureau, a team of installers who are able to commission any facility. In Europe, such an integrated approach is almost not practiced - companies mostly occupy one segment. Here we saw how well-organized production chain can be. Another important factor is that Sumy NPO products has a very large margin of safety. The company puts emphasis on the fact that the equipment operates significantly longer service period - not years, but decades. This approach to business is worthy of respect."
Next week, the delegation of specialists of the enterprise headed by Aleksey Tsymbal, the General Director will go to Warsaw, where they will take part in one of the key oil and gas exposition forum in Europe - exhibition «Nafta-Gaz-Chemia 2015". The meeting of the Chief Engineers Board will be participated in by the heads and lead specialists of nuclear power stations of Ukraine, standalone and service subdivisions which are a part of NNEGC "Energoatom". According to the Vice-President - the Technical Director of this state-owned enterprise, Alexander Shavlakov, today energy stability of Ukraine greatly relies on nuclear power industry. NPS generate up to 65% of electric power, and thus the issue of reliability and development of nuclear complex requires immediate and special attention.
"On this two-day forum we are planning to develop a series of strategic
technical decisions, including import substitution issue. In this respect we consider the possibility to strengthen cooperation with PJSC Sumy NPO; the Company proved on more than one occasion that it complies with high-level requirements, put forward to nuclear energy technologies and products. We have a great opportunity to assure ourselves of competences of this company and, I think, we will take next step towards each other, because acting together we will effect the desired result - energy stability of our state", - Alexander Shavlakov noted.
Nikolay Klochko, the Chairman of Sumy regional state administration, was present at the opening of chief engineers board meeting; he assured the present of his intention to do his best for industrial capacity building of Sumy region. "The region used to export over 60% of its products to Russia. Now these contacts are broken, and we, being public authorities, shall use best efforts in order to help local manufacturers to find new market acceptancies. Negotiations with the People's Republic of China are in progress, we are planning to visit Azerbaijan together with the representatives of Sumy region enterprises at the earliest possible time. But it is highly important for domestic market to be responsive. This event is a good example that common grounds are
found. Sumy NPO is a major enterprise with powerful scientific resources which should be in demand on domestic market", - Nikolay Klochko believes.
According to General Director of Sumy NPO Aleksey Tsymbal, today Sumy NPO is one of few companies in the country capable of solving questions concerning safe operation of Ukrainian nuclear complex. "We manufacture most products nomenclature necessary for NNEGC "ENERGOATOM". Mr Sergey Kozak, present Labour Protection Director of "Vinnytsaoblenergo" PJSC, also joined in the celebration.
- Firstly, I want to thank all the members of Trostyanets Electricity Networks brigades for their excellent work. You did your utmost at the competitions by demonstrating an example of high proficiency. Keep it up, because all our youth follows your example! And please, do not forget about the safety rules by performing your work, and cooperate with a brigade of Barsk Electricity Networks, that was a winner a year ago, - Mr Sergey Kozak added.
Heroes of the occasion expressed their gratitude to the Company's management staff for valuation of their work and reassured that they would strive furthermore to the perfection to justify the trust of the whole collective of "Vinnytsaoblenergo" PJSC. Then Mr Olexander Masnyuk, Senior Engineer of Trostyanets Electricity Networks, shared his impressions from the event.
- The celebration and presenting awards were a pleasant surprise
personally for me and for all masters of our brigade and collective of Trostyanets Electricity Networks. This is a great honour! An automobile will be in general of super assistance! I will only add that we went to this victory almost for a year, actively polished our theoretical and practical knowledge. And we will do our best not to let down in future! – Mr Olexander Masnyuk said.
Speaking about the purchase of "UAZ" car for winners, this is the business procurement directory headed by Mr Olexander Polyarush, who is occupied with this issue. In his opinion Company's workers have never received such a valuable present for their proficiency before for the whole history of "Vinnytsaoblenergo" PJSC.
According to the resolution of Mr Yuriy Kasich, the General Director, the Labour Protection Day has been conducted at all structural divisions of "Vinnytsaoblenergo" PJSC. Traditionally this day is conducted every second Thursday of each month and is a quite efficient measure of job-related injuries prevention. This is the day when it is possible to check mostly working places and state of their technical safety, and after a detailed analysis to make clear conclusions about the way how to organize the operation of distribution networks, how efficiently the occupation safety brigades work and whether they comply with applicable labour protection laws - says Mr Sergey Kozak, the Labour Protection Director of Vinnytsaoblenergo" PJSC. According to his words all the management staff of the Company is involved in this event, including, in particular, directors, production services directors, and their deputies. He told our reporter how they had prepared for this occasion and what was especially taken into consideration:
- Sergey Tymofiyovych, you together with your deputy will go in several hours to Nemyrov and Gaysyn, where you will conduct the Labour Protection Day. Do collectives of these electric networks know about your arrival or your business trip will be a real surprise for them?
- They and all our subordinate structures, no doubt, are informed about it. On the eve of the Labour Protection Day the respective theme is proposed. In addition this theme is scheduled for a year and sent to each structural unit, that is why every employee, from its Director up to an electrician is notified of the theme on the Labour Protection Day and
therefore they are preparing properly for this event. In particular, instructions are developed for holding of the Labour Protection Day. At first they organize meetings of the personnel for discussing of the situation with the labour protection and occupational accidents that resulted in injuries both in the energetics sphere and at our enterprise. Unfortunately this year an accident happened at Lypovetsk networks where due to the violation of safety requirements an electricity networks electrician was injured by getting burn on his face and hands. And we remind this accident many times to workers of Nemyrov and Gaysyn electricity networks, to avoid such troubles in the future.
- By the way, according to the information provided by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine starting from the early 2014 - 45 persons have been mortally injured at fuel and energy companies, and among them 7 persons have been injured directly at energy enterprises. This is such a sad statistics that makes us think it over.
- We have to ponder over it and deeply analyse as well. I will give you several examples with lethal end that happened to our colleagues-power men from "Khmelnytskoblenergo" PJSC and "Luganskoblenergo" OJSC. Thus, in the first case a foreman suffered who had not noticed a shunted disconnector at the sub-station and by reviewing the object he approached at the impermissible distance. The final was tragic, unfortunately, the man died. In Lugansk a worker in the vertical conveyor was not fastened by protective belt and he fell out of the conveyor and sustained a mortal head injury. It is very sad to say
about it, but we have to tell our workers about these accidents for them to understand once and forever what can happen because of insignificant carelessness, mistake and just mere ignorance of safety rules. We will also discuss this topic today at the meeting of employees of Nemyrov electricity networks and at all other regional structural units. This is because of the tendency of increasing injuries in our country, especially in power field, our enterprise has decided to implement new special terms of safety work performance and to exercise thorough control over it since 9 June of this year.
- Do you have any problems with protective safety means for "Vinnytsaoblenergo" PJSC's employees?
- Each our brigade of electricians and each sub-station are fully equipped with protective facilities that are bought centrally. Sometimes a delay can happen because of some reasons; however, afterwards we positively resolve this problem.
- At last, please give some piece of advice as a Labour Safety Director of "Vinnytsaoblenergo" PJSC to all Company's workers?
- The most important advice is to adhere strictly to current safety rules where unfortunately every item is written by blood. It is especially related to electricians. Please, remember you deal with such production factors as an electric current and height, therefore, please be very attentive by performing your work, as they say: discretion is the better part of valour.
Final proficiency contests of masters and electricians of the distribution networks of "Vinnytsaoblenergo" PJSC have been finished at the training ground of Mogilev-Podilskiy Electricity Networks. These contests are held yearly under the auspices of technical directors of the Company in cooperation with labour protection directory and fire safety specialist. Their aim was to identify the proficiency level of masters and brigades of electricity distribution networks electricians, increasing of the personnel qualification, search for production reserves, job-related injuries prevention, propaganda and interchange of advanced experience.
Eight brigades-finalists of distribution networks took part in these contests. According to results of 6 stages top three places were divided as follows:
1st place was taken by Trostyanetsk Electricity Networks' brigade
2nd place was won by Barsk Electricity Networks' brigade
3rd place was deserved by Kryzhopol Electricity Networks' brigade.
